Care Givers
We currently have 8 caregivers on staff at each home. All care givers must have active CPR and First Aid training, plus Fundamentals of Care Giving, and Nurse Delegation. They also receive in-house training from our clinical director, Erin Moody, BS, specific to behavior management of individuals with dementia, training in resident rights, infection control, imperative communication techniques both verbal and non-verbal as well as many other topics. Sheila Sagami, OTRL, co-owner provides all staff with excellent transfer training specific to each resident as well as exercise and stretching programs if applicable and indicated. She trains our staff in ways to maximize each resident's function thereby their well-being.
We have twenty four hour a day awake staffing in our home. The staffing essentially consists of three eight hour shifts similar to those in nursing homes and hospitals. In the morning when it is busy and bathing is being done, we have two staff members for increased safety.
Care Professionals
- A Doctor
We have a contract with Doctors Home Visits. Our doctor is Dr. Marcus Kuypers. He is wonderful with our residents and the majority of our residents have opted to have him as their primary care physician. He does periodic rounds in the home and also is available for emergency house calls!
- A Nurse
We have access to an on-call MA and LPN as well as an RN/Nurse Delegator. We can also help you access nursing through home health with a doctor's order. These services will assist with diabetic care, wound care/skin healing, etc.
- A Foot Care Professional
Dr Randall Fisher, a doctor of podiatry makes regular and as-needed house calls to our home. For those with diabetes this is essential.
- Pet Therapist
Erin Moody, our co-owner, fosters dogs for OldDog Haven. She brings these noble, calm, wise old dogs for pet therapy visits regularly. Everyone really enjoys the visits! They love to hear their stories and can really relate to these old ones
- Hospice Care
We are able to care for you or your loved one up to the end of life. We can access hospice services and provide the necessary total-care with our 24 hour awake staff. This allows us to provide excellent care and attention for people who may be bed bound at the end of life. This will prevent the need for nursing home placement and allow for peace and dignity.
